The reason these are going so cheap is they are defective. I went through 3 OF THEM last month that all had the same defect for which Dell admitted they would not be able to send me a unit without. The defect is a horizontal banding of lines emanating from the lower left hand quadrant of the screen. A quick google search will yield many posts of dissatisfied consumers. Please do not waste your time and money on this model - send a message to Dell that they can't just lower the price and sell a defective model.
When you get an UltraSharp, you're getting a best of the best monitor. Okay... there actually is higher end stuff out there, but none worth mentioning. For serious photo and video editing, the deal from NewEgg is pretty hot. They dropped the price from $1,500 to $850 - a new low by $149.
If you're really serious about photo, video, or general graphic editing, the UltraSharp line of Dell IPS monitor is a very appealing, reasonable choice. 99% AdobeRGB, 100% sRGB, and 120% color gamut coverage.
This code and price are still valid through the end of August.
thanks J, refreshed the deal with the updated pricing
