Not sure if I'm in the right area to ask this? I have a Samsung 50 inch HDTV I bought going on 6 yrs. It has been the best. All of a sudden it is on for 30 min. Starts making a interference noise ..I can mute it ...the picture is still beautiful. Do these tv's do this.
They shouldn't do that - but then again, neither should your Samsung. Six years is presumably beyond the warranty period, unfortunately, and given that many people just replace TVs as soon as the "latest and greatest" new wave of models comes out, most TVs don't even get used long enough to say.
In the case of this TV, your Samsung is _probably_ higher build quality by comparison, meaning this TV might have a higher likelihood of things going wrong down the road. But again, as you're well aware, reliability's on a case by case basis. Even name brand sets can develop problems, and unfortunately in many cases it's based purely on luck - whether you got something that had an undiagnosed issue at the factory or not.
I can't say I know a lot about the Hisense brand, but a 40-inch 1080p LED Smart TV for $280 is a steal. In case you don't have a media player this has Netflix, Vudu Movies and YouTube built in. Other 40-inch Hisense HDTVs without the internet "Smart" technology go for around $400.
