Lost Planet 2 is set 10 years after on the same fictional planet in Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. Released in May 2010, Lost Planet 2 has sold more than 1.5 million copies worldwide. The Vital Suits make a comeback in this game, with an added flying ability, and the co-op modes allow players to control the VSs. Lost Planet 2 now has a warmer climate, thus thermal energy is conserved, allowing use of weapons and equipments that require thermal energy. Players can also earn experience points for completing missions, which can be used to unlock costumes and attachments. Online multiplayer versus modes did not change from its predecessor. Players can also avail of the free DLC; Helghast costumes and map packs.
With mixed reviews for this game, Lost Planet 2 received only 68 stars from its critics. Graphics involving characters, mech suits, and the extreme condition environments look great, but that's the only thing good about the game. The gameplay is very frustrating; spawning takes a while, no checkpoints within missions, player is knocked down in the most inappropriate places, and takes a while to come back from knock downs.
