Players can either play as cops to pursit racers or as racers to outrace cops in career mode or in all multiplayer race modes. Cars now have weapons to take down suspects, or evasion car equipments to escape cops.

Released in November 2010, NFS: Hot Pursuit is considered one of the best racing games today. It is highly praised by critics and gamers, getting a score of 86 out of 100 across all review sites. This game is multi-awarded, including E3 2010 Game Critics Awards Best Racing Game, 2010 Spike Video Game Awards Best Driving Game, and IGN's Best Competitive Multiplayer on XBox 360 and Most Addictive Game on XBox 360.
