PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 gamer reviews show that SWTFU2 was as superb as its predecessor, noting that the sequel offered an impressive improvement in graphics, character physics, control actions, and gameplay. Although the sequel is a short 5-hour story on normal mode, the gamers had challenging experiences with the 8 intelligence-upped bosses in Campaign Mode.

The critics have mixed opinions about SWTFU2. While most of them agreed that the sequel barely passed their expectations, some thought that the improvements and additions covered its obvious flaws, including a technical glitch. One huge game improvement they noted is the faster loading time of screens and menus, but not enough to cast shadow on seemingly-repetitious combats, enemy recycling, and the lack of epic and thematic elements to the story and environment. Characters start the game with all the combos learned, thus the lack of combo progression and level up gets the most thumbs down.

Suprisingly, wii users and its critics alike, are more satisfied with the way the game turned out for them. They particularly enjoyed the playability of the game and the graphics. Most of the critics also noted the multiplayer gameplay feature for the added fun.
